Personnel Dredge Batu Ampar III Channel to Mitigate Local Flooding

Maintenance workers in Kramat Jati are taking a hands-on approach to flood prevention. On Friday (1/9), seven personnel began manually clearing out a water channel on Jalan Batu Ampar III, RW 02, Batu Ampar Urban Village, to remove nearly a foot of accumulated mud.

The 85-meter project is part of a broader effort to ensure the local drainage system can handle seasonal downpours. According to Mulyadi, one of the personnel, the manual dredging is necessary to clear the channel and prevent flooding that has plagued residents during recent storms.

"It aims to prevent flooding when it rains," he expressed, Friday (1/9).

West Jakarta SDA Ramps Up Flood Mitigation Efforts

He explained, the work has been ongoing since December 20, 2025, and is targeted to be completed by the end of January 2026. Thus far, the work progress has hit 35 percent.

"The dredged mud is being transported to the BHP Park area in Dukuh Urban Village for disposal," he explained.

Meanwhile, Siti Zuriyah, a representative from LMK RW 02, Batu Ampar Urban Village noted that the area typically sees 8 to 12 inches of flooding whenever it rains.

"Many channels are choked with mud. We are very grateful for the personnel's swift response to the residents' request for help," she explained.

"Mud buildup has choked many of our channels. We really appreciate the city workers taking such quick action on our request," she continued.

She expects the neighborhood’s flood issues to be much more manageable following the cleanup. I’ve urged the community to do their part as well by keeping the channels clear and putting a stop to littering," she added.
